Casas del Sol Casas del Sol is a beautifully maintained bungalow complex situated in a prime position in the delightful resort of Playa Blanca, with it's gorgeous beaches and fishing harbour. The complex features a reception, large solar heated swimming pool plus children's pool, two tennis courts and a Boules pitch. It also has adequate car parking making the complex a car free zone and safer for children and pedestrians. Casas del Sol is in a fantastic position situated within 300 metres of the old town of Playa Blanca where there are a variety of shops and supermarkets. It is only a short walk to the amenities of Playa, so a car is not essential, only a luxury for exploring the rest of the island. Playa Blanca is also renowned for it's seafood restaurants located on the promenade alongside the town beach where you can wine, dine and relax overlooking the bay towards the golden beaches of Papagayo. Playa Blanca Playa Blanca boasts three beaches, the town beach is small and popular with a boardwalk and a shower, the promenade extends both east and west for some excellent walks. Dorado beach has jet skis, banana boat rides, pedalos and sun beds for hire and is protected by breakwaters (this beach is the grandchildren's favourite!). Dorado also backs onto the Papagayo centre with it's bars, restaurants and shops all close at hand. Flamingo beach is protected from roller waves again by rock breakwaters making a really safe beach to swim and play on. Bars, restaurants and supermarkets are all close to hand. Playa Blanca is an old fishing village with a quaint working harbour. Two ferries (Fred and Armas, the children love watching them moor and leave!) cross over to Fuerteventura to the resort town of Corralejo with it's magnificent beaches every two hours, which takes about 30 to 45 mins. Playa Blanca has an abundance of eateries and bars, catering for all tastes and pockets. The village is now supplemented by the gorgeous nearby Marina which is attracting new cafes, restaurants, designer shops and a fabulous French bakery all in the wonderful atmosphere of a marina with a view of yachts and speed boats to capture the lottery winning imagination! Lanzarote Lanzarote lies just north of the tropics lying only 100 miles west of the Sahara Coast of Africa, being one of the Canary Islands it has a fantastic history of year round sunshine. Lanzarote has a whole host of things to do and see and has many attractions to suit all ages and tastes yet the old Spanish areas can still be seen and experienced. The Timanfya national park, the result of many years worth of volcanic eruptions in the 1800's, is well worth a visit, the lava fields and craters are spectacular and the ferocious heat is harnessed and used as a barbecue in the visitor centre where and impressive display of that heat is put on for visitors. Manrique Cesar is the man who Lanzarote owes a lot of it's success to by laying out the ground rules for the development of the island. You can see his works or art in the form of fantastic sculptures and mobiles on the roundabouts. One of his architectural highlights is the summer house built into the lava flow making underground rooms out of caverns, art work is displayed in what was his lounge. The Mirador del Rio is also truly worth a visit. Back to top of page |
